The Iniquities of British Justice

Who You know not What Youve Done!

My Son Stephen is or was a casual cannabis user who used to get small quantities for himself and a few friends. I do not defend or condemn the use of cannabis because I do not know enough about it. However you may feel about cannabis users I am sure that you will agree that they are not really criminals. Perhaps they are foolish to waste their money but then in my opinion so are smokers and people who drink a lot of alcohol. Unfortunately, even though cannabis is considered by most informed people to be less harmful than both smoking and alcohol, it is deemed a criminal offence to be associated with it in any way. However, many high profile people admit to using cannabis (and in some cases harder drugs) but they seem to get away with it. Some of them have even been knighted! So, with British justice it is who you are or who you know that counts more than what you have done! A recent dealer got off with nothing more than a warning because he happens to be the son of Jack Straw, our present Home Secretary. See what I mean!!

Entrapment in the UK!
For some unknown reason the North Wales Police decided that Stephen was a drugs dealer. Perhaps someone who was jealous of him informed on him. Stephen is a very popular person always willing to help people but I suspect that someone who also wanted to be popular decided to make things difficult for him. Remember, Stephen was a casual cannabis user - not a dealer. The North Wales police have a strange attitude to crime. Apparently using soft drugs is more serious than other crimes. Even a paedophile is considered to be a better citizen! So, with their misinformation they decided to keep Stephen under surveillance for 18 MONTHS. Stephen was unaware of this intrusion and carried on his life as usual. After approx. 18 months they had no evidence that he was a drugs dealer so they sent in a very charming man to buy cars from Stephen. Naturally, Stephen was delighted to have a regular customer and they became friends. Then this charming man started talking about drugs but Stephen said he was not interested. The man persisted on other visits flashing loads of money and a top of the range BMW to show how lucrative it could be. At the time Stephen was trying to build a house and had some debts so like a fool he gave in and agreed to get some cannabis but the agent provocateur insisted that he also wanted some cocaine and amphetamines. Now, Stephen had very little knowledge of hard drugs but he did know one or two people who used them so reluctantly agreed to ask around for possible supplies. Remember, unknown to Stephen all these conversations were being taped! After many weeks of asking around Stephen finally managed to get hold of a reasonable quantity of cannabis and a few amphetamines and just 1.5 grammes of cocaine. The mere fact that he took so long to find supplies proves that he was not a dealer! The agent provocateur turned up to do the deal and within five minutes approx. 20 police officers arrived and Stephen was arrested.

So Stephen was arrested solely on his dealings with an undercover police officer who set him up. There was absolutely no other evidence that he dealt in drugs . And this will astound you - Stephen made the point that as the conversations were all taped there would be proof that he had to be coerced into making his foolish decision. But believe it or not the North Wales Police claimed that the equipment was not functioning properly on all the occasions when Stephen made it clear that he was not interested. Miraculously, it functioned properly when he agreed to cooperate and do business. And the North Wales Crown Prosecution Service did not take this into consideration and decided to prosecute purely on the dealings in the set up. So, are the North Wales C.P.S completely independent of the police - I THINK NOT! They are all pals and are going all out to get convictions for drug users and dealers. And guess why they introduced cocaine into the equation. They knew that a conviction for cannabis would possibly be minimal and they spent thousands of pounds on the operation so they needed to justify the expense. Its as simple as that! What do you think? Do you have any comments or observations?
